Why are deaths in other places outside the US so overlooked?

You see earthquakes in the news in a place in the world, you never hear about it the day after.

But when something bad happens in the US even if it isn't that serious, it is on the news all week.

  1. Myanmar is still in the news. Perhaps you watch the wrong channel.


  2. I would say there isn't enough coverage about deaths in the USA. The media is selective about what it covers. There are horrible stories every day in the print / web media, but these stories seldom make it to prime time news.
