I am a conservative so I don't like the idea of making laws to limit peoples freedom. But here is something bordering on the insanely greedy. I believe there are two new developements being planned in the town of Orting WA. that will be in what I believe would be considered a 25 year flood plain. Did we learn anything from Mt. St. Helens and the disaster of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans? How many people will die in Orting when Mt Rainier goes crazy again? Just in 2006 the rains flooded several new homes in one of the new developements next to the river. And this was without a levy break. What happens when the levy breaks? If you live in the area and are concerned what would you suggest be done? If you have an idea please come to the meeting at the Sumner Library on Wed. June 11th at 6:30pm.

  1. This may sound evil.  Flood plains should have mostly prisons built on it, so then we will not have so much of a loss in case a levy break or Category 5 hurricane.
