  1. Diet drinks ARE NOT BAD!

It is just a huge urban legend that got out of control.

  2. the atrificial sugar (namely aspertame) and the calories.

Aspartame has been the subject of controversy regarding its safety. Aspartic acid, into which aspartame is metabolized, is a known NMDA receptor antagonist. Aspartame itself has been shown to have antinociceptive properties through effecting NMDA receptors in mice. Some studies have also recommended further investigation into possible connections between aspartame and negative effects such as headaches, brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma.[

  3. people use them to clean toilets- go figure!!

  4. All that's diet about them is they don't have sugar. There is still a lot of bad things in them.

  5. apparently they have more chemicals and flavourings than normal drinks

  6. Someone told me that it takes some brain cells away...so u can't remember stuff as much

  7. Well, it hasn't been proven, however, the artificial sweeteners used in diet sodas, although they are lower in calories than real sugar, are suspected to be cancer causing agents. As with anything, moderation is the key. I do not think that there is any substantial evidence to prove this so far, but your best bet is to avoid overuse of anything with artificial sweeteners.
