  1. Well, if i am interpreting your question correctly.

A duty to one's self is the most critical duty that we can engage in as human beings.  We are naturally given a self-preservation instinct.  The fulfillment of that instinct is our duty to one's self.  We must act to both protect ourself, but to make ourself happy.  It is critical that we take time out of our day and enjoy something that we enjoy.  Often times people get stuck in a system of trying to help others all the time and end up neglecting the psychological, material, social, or economic needs of themselves.  This is true of many helping professions.  This is why psychiatrists go through a rigorous course of therapy themselves throughout med school.  This creates a more rounded person who is better able to deal with their problems.  For psychiatrists, their job can be psychologically taxing!  Therefore they prepare for stressors by coming to a successful conclusion about past life events.  In this way they are more capable of helping others without having to try to deal with their own problems first.  Similarly, the problems that others drudge up may reflect the problems of the psychiatrist.  This can create a conflict of interest, or a lack of therapeutic environment all together.

We must engage in a duty to ourselves.  We act as our ultimate protector and it is critical that we take that role seriously.  We must both protect ourselves and stimulate ourselves with things that make us happy.  We must surround ourselves with similarly minded individuals and act both in their interest and our own.  I hope that helps!
