  1. they do best in pairs and should be handled often

  2. they dont want to be held oooorrrrr..... They dont like you. Sorry but facing the fact

  3. Actually, they're not that very aggressive, a bit territorial but if they're attacking your hand then you must be doing something wrong.

Try not to bother or handle your hamsters when they are eating or sleeping. They become very territorial during this delicate moments. Also make sure you are holding them correctly. When you take the out the cage, you scoop them up in your hand then cup then with both hands to prevent them from jumping and getting away and to make them feel safe and secure. If i held my hamster with one hand, letting their feet dangle, she would kick her feet and bite me to make me cup her feet so she felt secure and safe. I suggest doing handfeeding to get them used to your hands. If they are new, then they are unfamailar to being handled. Put a little bit of food on your palm and wait for them to crawl onto your hand and eat it. Soon they'll learn to "not bite the hand that feeds them" and they will get used to your scent and feel less threathened by it. I hope I helped. =)♥

  4. dwarf hamsters have not been domesticated for that long, really.  So they are more agressive than other breeds of hamsters who have been bred in captivity longer.

Also, dwarf hamsters are somewhat of a novelty so anyone thinking they can make a buck is breeding them without care to the temperment of the parents.

  5. Dwarf hamsters have not been domesticated for that long but i believe that its not aggressive for that reason but only scared, talk to him and introduce yourself when you walk into the room hes in. talk to him when you try to handle him in a very mild soft voice saying "its going to be OK" and "I'm not going to hurt you" things like that he just needs to get used to people and being held bring him around with you don't fear him that makes him more nervous. let him smell you and talk to him all the time they love to be held and pet take him around the house with you and outside sometimes let him get used to the surroundings and his new home let him see the outside world. and then he will be your best friend.

PS, Females are more moody at times just like we are they have their mood swings and hormones you just have to understand that.

  6. they just are stubborn. they will need to be held every day, because if not, they can become wild even after you've tamed them.

  7. They are always hyper like that... BTW how old is this hamster. My hamster did the same thing to me when it was just a little baby, but now she grew out of it. Try holding her and taking good care of her. Later on she might feel comfortable and let you hold her and play with her. Sometimes they bite you when you just ate food, because they think it's some food. Another reason is it's asleep and tired, if your bored and want to play with your hamster try letting it into it's ball for 5 - 15 minutes and then try holding your hamster. He will feel more comfortable because he is awake and alert..
