Okay , Isnt it true that competition breeds quality???? If you are a good teacher with high testing scores from your students why worry??? If your not, we don't need you taking up a spot on our falculties. The education of our children is pertinent for the advancement and future of the US. It is highly important for us academically to become advanced and be able to compete in a more global arena.

  1. I agree...in a perfect world that would be the golden rule, but when you add to the mix, teachers unions (i.e. NEA & local teacher's union) it causes the water to become muddy.  These unions protect their own.  If a teacher doesn't do well, it is not their fault, it the fault of the school system, or the government’s fault because they are not putting in money needed to teach the children and now you are taking the money away with vouchers.  There have been statics that have shown that we spend more on teaching our children than most industrialized countries, but have little to show it.  If teachers had real jobs where they had to stand on their own, some would be fired, but most would strive.

  2. Educators are not affraid of the voucher system.  The voucher system has been around in some form or another for more tha fifty years and has not proven to bring about any increase in educational achievement.  Voucher are offered to patents of students on what are called low performing schools to help pay for private scools that are not required to meet the achievement standards of poublic schools.  It is much like saying to a consumer that if they don't like one brand of bread, the government will give them some help buying another brand that may or may not be better, but it does cost more.  There is no competition involved in the voucher system.  It is a way tohelp pay for wealthy politicians private schools with public money.  If you want to pay taxes so that your senator's children can go to a posh academy, be my guest.

  3. Public schools need the money more than private. To fund private schools with public school money should be a crime.

This will take away from people who really need it. If you want to go to a private school ...fine. Just support it your self. Don't ask for public money..The voucher  system take from the poor and is not a good thing. I live where the do vouchers. It is not a good site to see. Kids in the public schools give up because funds have been cut from things they need and enjoy. Hope this give a good picture of the voucher system.

The bottom line is if you can not afford a private school then don't ask for it.

Private school are only better because of less students.

    That will never change.

  4. Because vouchers are a form of accountability.  The public education system has carefully organized things so that nobody is accountable for poor performance.

A voucher system rewards good schools and punishes bad ones.  Just like the business world - companies that perform succeed and companies that do not perform fail.
