Seriously, have you noticed how the extreme environmentalists always exagerate things? Take global warming! Did you know that water vapor is about 95% of greenhouse gases?

  1. Yeah, water vapor constitutes 95% of greenhouse gases.  So what's your point?  How is this not logical?

  2. Quaint but lacking answer, but nice try. Enviromentalism has existed in some form for some time, I recall the ads back in the 70's tlling people to turn off lights that aren't in use or the indian paddling up a stream in a canoe for pollution awareness, but the global warming crowd is full of freaks, and that's the undeniable truth.

Look how they attack anyone that downs their efforts to blot out any other voice.

Look at how they lie to the world telling people that the polar bears are drowning when their population has actually more than doubled since the 70's.

Lets get real here folks, global warming is a natural occurance just like cooling, photo-synthesis or any of the other processes that a child could learn about in basic biology. But for you to run off like chicken littles, trying to get the world to think the sky is falling, all the while coming up with new taxes to fight a hoax and robbing people of their money and freedoms is outrageous.

It is not a crisis, and there's very good evidence that it isn't even happening from real scientists. Not the bought off ones or politically connected ones that are part of the global warming crowd.

One thing that enviromentalists have failed to do is separate "global warming" from "man made global warming". The Earth heating up isn't a big deal and isn't a crisis, its natural. And its all but been proven that man hasn't effectively added much to the cycle. The science is out there from monitors of the earth, not some laboratory created punk that wants to view the world as his laboratory.

Enviromentalism has added to the food shortages world wide, deaths due to the use of inferior products from banning the one's that have worked, added hysteria to the point that its influenced governments, created a way in for socialists to take control and run your life, tell you what you can buy, what products to use...they even are telling you what kind of light bulb you can use.

Its time to put up or shut up.

The UK has been living 3 years under this kind of system and alot were willing to make the change because they bought into the hype. Now, 3 days later they are more taxed, more restricted, and nothing has changed. Is this really what you want for America....and those answering yes can now leave my country and the freedoms they take for granted but what to steal from others.

I'll just right on your stupid bandwagon IF you give me the right to sue your dumb butts 20 years form now when your proven wrong. Not that you haven't been proven wrong already, but alot of people are confused on the issue. 20 years from now when nothings changed, they will see for themselves. IF you think your so right, you shouldn't have a problem with me suing you later.

  3. Why do people always use superlatives?

The foundation of your question is flawed.  While there are people out there how don't appear to be logical, that is true of all disciplines.  Many times the reliance on emotional foundations is due to the lack of facts.  Jump over to the religion section and you will see what I mean.

As a logical environmentalist, I could say something similar about the opposing side.  Being an environmental consultant by profession, my job is not to be extreme, but balance safety with cost-effectiveness.  Companies pay me because I use innovative technologies to cleanup toxic spills.  I'm sure if you ask the 15 people who got cancer as a result of drinking TCE-tainted water at the Viewmaster manufacturing plant, they'll probably agree it is important to protect the environment and clean up toxic contamination.

As Richard Nixon signed the EPA into existence, do you think that he was illogical?  As many hunters want to protect certain wilderness areas, are they not logical?

Regarding global warming, yeah, some people are over stating things, in my opinion.  Global warming is occurring and it will have devistating impacts, especially for the rich b*****s with houses on all those little islands along the east coast.  It will have impacts on my home owner insurance rates due to more variable and extreme weather in my risk pool.  It may even have an impact on world-wide food productivity.  Is human activity the culprit?  There is no way to prove that.  There is strong parallel and anecdotal evidence, but you can't prove it as fact.

And why are some people so fervent against  being more conscious about energy use, using insulation, or getting their power from other places than coal?  Why do they oppose a new generation of jobs for research and building new energy sources?  I mean, I can see that of those in the hydrocarbon-based energy sectors.  But other than that, it seems strange.

Does all this mean that we should hunker down, take sides, and whine about the opposing view point?  For me it doesn't.  My brain is wired for solutions based on facts, not sheepishly clinging to an opinion while tossing back-handed insults to those who disagree.  And that approach seems pretty logical to me, don't you think?

EDIT:  Imagine a plant like Mars, which doesn't have any water vapor, or the moon.  Without water vapor moderating temperature and warming the earth at night by reflecting back heat, we'd be like other planets where the days are super hot and the nights are super cold regardless of the season.

EDIT2:  For Nightwind and a two word culture, "They're not."  I believe I proved that with discourse.

As far as the "radical environmentalist" clarification by Idoni, many radical movements are not based in defensible logic.  There is almost a sense of mysticism in any radical movement that takes a small nugget of truth and runs with it, regardless of others facts.  Just look at religious Christian radicals waiting for "the end times" in their lifetime or Muslim radicals wanting to blow themselves up so they get 70 virgins in the afterlife.  If is very difficult to reason with anyone that is radical, regardless of the topic.

  4. Yes.  It is well known that water vapor is the most abundant of the greenhouse gasses.  As a greenhouse gas, higher concentration of water vapor is able to absorb more thermal IR energy radiated from the Earth, thus further warming the atmosphere.  The fact that it is water does not make it harmless.

You are misguided to downplay its importance in possibility of global warming.  You would do better to read the work of scientists rather than fiction novelists if you want to know about the problem.  There is no religion involved here.
