Question:

Why are environmentalists never satisfied?

It seems to me that no matter what the gov. does, the enviros are unhappy. They were happy with ethanol and biodiesel, but now that food prices have gone up (more to do with record oil prices than anything else) they hate it. We could have cheap Co2 free energy with nuclear but they dont want it, we could have plenty of oil from coal to help offset gas AND food prices but they dont want it, we could have plenty of domestic oil but once again... they dont want it so it doesn't happen! Why does it seem like the enviros would rather talk talk talk about climate change instead of starting research firms to research "green" energy? And I do think that we should take care of the earth, I just think that we as Americans are always saddled with the problems of the world, and are always made to feel guilty for our success.

  1. Environmentalists tend to see the planet in only it's most basic form. All human activity alters this. In many cases they have valid concerns, but we certainly must have human development. Man does definitely need to clear land for crops, farm fish and animals, provide ourselves with the energy necessary to accomplish these things. Unfortunately, people in the U S use more, waste more, than any people on the planet. Many farms use less fuel in a year than a single SUV does in a month. We are a greedy people. Heck, we cannot even share a car for commuting. As long as our thirst for fuel goes unsatisfied we will have war. Our waste destroys more of the food supplies (ocean) every year. I think if you take a lot, you need to give a lot back. With our technology, why can't we use scrubbers on coal fired plants, process our waste, etc. The jobs created and taxes paid by the earners would turn our economy around for the working Americans. Our success would grow.

  2. I agree with you, but I don't have the answer either.

  3. You are right.  I don't have the answer for your question.  Maybe one of the environmentalists on here can tell us why we can't use what we know until we learn something better.  Instead of just saying no they need to start saying no, this is why, AND THIS IS HOW WE CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM.  They never say the last part.
