Why are fake tans condidered cute?

It used to be that being pale was considered a sign of wealth because it meant you didn't have to labor outside. In more modern times (in most western societies), having a tan is seen as a potential indication that you are wealthy enough to vacation. Though I may be a bit biased being porcelain skinned myself, I think fairer complexions are just as beautiful and can look just as healthy. I guess some people are so desperate to seem rich and "fit" that they'll go to extreme measures to appear so. Thus the dreaded fake bake.

Usually when you're tan, you tend to look more muscle toned. I'm not completely sure why. Regular, not over the top tans aren't that bad, but, the overly fake tans are horrid and really don't do much to flatter.

lol when white people tan or use fake tans it looks so funny. their skin goes orange instead of brown. HAHAHAHAHAH I can't stop laughing. I am half white too but I have natura tan skin and tan easily in the sun. White people please don't destroy ur own skin(this is serious).

anyone who's pale looks better tan, I think, but the fake look looks gross to most people. I htink people go too far and tan too much and end of looking orange, and fake! I don't think it looks cute and noone else I know does either.

I have no clue I asked the same question and everyone said because being pale is ugly but it can kill you having a tan like that so IDK!
