Why are female lower back tattoos labeled "tramp stamps"??

why the lower back and not another part of the body like chest or legs or anywhere else. i'm just curious why you guys think a girl with a tatt on her lower back is automatically a sl*t. and i'm also curious as to how or when this might have gotten started.

people think girls get them there to make guys look down there. that's what i think.

usually it goes for girls that want their first tattoo cause it looks pretty and thats the only one the  get.  I have a half sleeve and two other ones. I think It all has to with the girls personality wheather they follow a trend or not. Most girls that get those tattoo pick tribal which i hate becaue they look stupid. It not only girl with lower back tattoo , its guys with big arms and little barb wire around there tan bulging arms it looks ridiculous. Do something original

my friend's sister has a tattoo of (my friends) name on her lower back and it's way cute.

my best guess? probably because you can see only about half of them until you get your pants off--unless you're wearing really low-rise pants, and then, well... use your imagination :)  Most other places are more covered up and not so blatant.

That's just my guess, no judgment, I have several good friends with 'tramp stamps' who aren't you-know-whats

All I can think of is it usually symbolizes an "easy target." I guess because it's pretty much right on the *** and it's probably the first thing someone sees when they bend over.

Update: Emily is so right. A lot of people I know(me included LOL) love it when they see a chick with a tat on the lower back because they usually are easy most of the time
