Why are females looks related to their social status, but not so much for males?

Usually, the better looking the female, the higher her social value is. But with males, this is not necessarily the case. Why do you think there is a difference in the perceived social worth of an individual?

  1. Something to add to this mix, the better looking both sexes are, the more they earn. It's a proven statistic.

  2. Actually, the "popular" males dress preppy. Usually cause they play sports.

So I think males have a look too. They like to either shave their heads or wear massive amounts of hair gel.

    And work out.

People just judge others on their appearance.

And the cuter you are, or the more make up you wear, or if you're into the new trends/music ect, your stats go up.

    You can;t be shy either.

  3. The theory is that this is actually tied to evolution.  A woman's social value is determined by her physical appearance because that indicates her ability to produce offspring that will then go on to produce offspring (i.e. symmetrical facial features, curves, full lips, etc.).

On the flip side of the issue, men's social value tends to be determined by their financial worth.  The idea here is that because women invest more in the child producing process, they are left in the position of power and will most likely choose a mate who can provide for her.  I have no idea if this is true or not, but the theory provides a pretty compelling argument for why young, attractive women and rich men are the most desirable mates.
