Question:

Why are fights in baseball considered entertainment?

It seems to me like fights in baseball aren't discouraged or frowned upon, but are looked at as good entertainment. Fights in any other sport, besides hockey, are are considered to be really terrible. Not in baseball. The fact that a manager can get in the face of an umpire and yell and scream, throw a temper tantrum, kick up dirt, throw bases and get applauded really confuses me. shouldn't this guy be extremely embarrassed? Why do they allow the benches to be cleared during a fight in a game? shouldn't there be a rule that you cannot leave the bench during a fight. it would be easier to break up, right? baseball is more of a sideshow than a sport. if you go to a boring game and there is a fight, it's considered a great game. what a joke!

  1. BECAUSE WE ARE HUMANS! AND WE ARE PRETTY NASTY BEINGS! WE HATE EACH OTHER AND LIKE TO SEE PEOPLE FIGHT! ITS SIMPLE! DON'T FIGHT IT!!!LOL---

LET IT BE ..LET IT BE..

  2. it entertains me! lol

  3. Cuz it's a non-violent non-aggressive sport, they hardly ever hurt each other so whats the problem?

  4. simple! human nature!! people are bloodthirssty and want to see others  get hurt! sad, but  true

  5. I could not agree with you more. What a dreadful example these so-called professional sportsmen are giving to all the young people who are watching their "game".

I have no idea why Americans call it entertainment. Perhaps it is something that happens to all decaying Imperial powers. Like the ancient Romans they are not really satisfied unless there is violence and blood in the arena.

  6. Beause its fun to watch there going to get suspneded and fine anyways.

You dont see it much plus it acutally does help a ball club sometimes.

  7. so you are comparing hockey fights to baseball fights..a baseball fight happens maybe once every other week (if that) so that 1 fight in almost 200 games of MLB play

and the rules say a manager can come out of a dugout to argue a call with an umpire, and when that happens, there is no rule saying he cannot yell and make his case..however if he makes any sort of contact with an umpire he is automatically ejected and faces a guaranteed suspension

and its not considered a great game if a fight occurs to a real fan of the game..real fans dont go to baseball games looking to see a fight, those are the people who think the game is boring, and thats their opinion..but to call a game thats been around longer than professional football, basketball, and hockey a joke is an embarrasment to yourself

  8. you are correct...it is considered entertainment. If it wasn't the MLB would stop it.

The NFL has done a fantastic job of taking this out of the game and football is actually a physical sport where fighting could be very prevalent.  Even when they do the announcers don't talk about it, the camera points elsewhere, and the players are fined.

I hate when they get out and start yelling and acting like fools.

  9. Well, I don't think like 3 umpires could hold back like 30 strong baseball players..... As for the fighting, people always think it's cool because it is kind of entertaining, like we have boxing and wrestling (not pro)....I think it's just one of those things that has become associated with this particular sport.

  10. all fights anywhere r considered entertainment. its jus life. ppl like to see people fighting.

  11. because some people find it entertaining and get enjoyment out of seeing it.

it also helps boost ratings because more people want to watch the game to see if a fight will occur.

  12. Do you know what the ROMANS considered entertainment?

These guys fight like girls so nobody gets hurt.  Play on.
