  1. because it is proven that red causes more attention down the road than anything else. and also because red is the national color of 'caution' or to 'slow down'...which people need to do when they see a fire truck.

also it helps that it's arch enemy: fire, is red too. it confuses the h**l out of the fire, making them win. =]

  2. Red is one of the most easily recognized colors in the daylight.

Therefore, traffic lights, stop signs, and fire trucks are painted red so that people can see them coming from far away.

In the city of Winnipeg in Canada, a lot of fire trucks are now

indeed lime yellow (same goes for other emergency vehicles).

  3. For years, always were red, now the lime/yellow green is also  A VERY NOTICABLE COLOR.

Basically to  make sure people see it.

  4. UCANTCME hits the nail on the head,  but  I sure do like Steve's logic.

  5. Not ALL fire trucks are red.  Some are yellow, some are lime green, some are blue and white, Some military fire trucks are dark OD Green. All of them are trying to be the most visible color to make sure people can see them coming and get out of their way.

  6. why do roses have thorns

  7. Why are Firetrucks Red ?

Firetrucks have four wheels and eight men.

    Four and eight make twelve.

There are twelve inches in a foot.

Queen Elizabeth II is a ruler and is also the name of the largest ship that sails the seven seas.

Seas have fish and fish have fins.
