You'd think something you fish off of wouldn't need to go 60+ mph. Why so fast?

  1. Jenny`s answer is correct , also to add experience once i was miles out in Lake Huron, it was a blue bird day not a cloud in the sky. a un expected storm came up so fast and so large i could not get to shore. even though i saw it coming .The Coast Guard came and got me.Now i own one of those boats you are wondering about.

  2. Simple, more fishing time, plus if the weather changes its possible to get back to the shore quickly.

  3. Need da speed for scouting da water for baitfish balls, tuna boils or sailfish area. A slow boat cant catch up to the speed these fishes swim around.

  4. not all fishing boats are that fast but the more time you spend getting to your spot the less time you have to fish

  5. All the answers above are correct.  Getting to the fish is so important as well as fast moving tides.  You do not want to get caught out as some one has explained.  Tight lines.

  6. They get a call from a buddy that there is a better spot down stream and away they go!

  7. from the boat launch to the fishing spot could be miles away. In tournament competion every second counts. Plus, going fast is fun

  8. Well, if a fast boat is good, a faster boat is better.

  9. If you think about it, speed means everything when it comes to the boat. For one, if you are on a time limit, would you rather spend all day puttering around or go for a "quick shot" to the fishing hole?  2, if your lively hood depends on fishing, most likely you will have competition so getting there first means you have a better chance to get paid. 3, would you like to be caught in a storm or out run it? 4, if you had a life and death injury...need I say more? 5, maybe tons of people know that "secret spot" and you just have to be there first. 6, sometimes it just feels good to show off.

As for the main question, technology has made hull designs lighter and stronger than late model hulls. Motors are more powerful and lighter ( in some instances)  as well compared to  the the standards of yesterday.  ~good luck catchin'.

  10. They are right. You do need to get where your fishing hole is and sometime in a hurry. But fishing boats aren't necessarilly for just fishing. Our boat is a Bass Tracker fishing boat. My step-dad does use it to fish in the creek and at the lake but we also use it to go skiing and tubing.

  11. so u can run from a huge shark!

  12. for the owners pleasure. the motors come stock on any boat so if you want to go slow by a trolley motor

  13. I'm an avid bass fisherman and I know in the world of fishing tournaments it is very important to get to the spot you want to fish before your competitors do. So, it's basically a race to get there before the other guy. I also use my boat for other things such as pulling the family around on the tube. But to me it's getting where I need to get as soon as possible to give me more time to catch fish in an area i want to be in.
