Why are folks so ignorant and confused about how Call blocking and Annyonymous Caller rejection works?

I challenge you to explain in correct terms the whole process (*82, *67, Annonymous Caller Rejection, etc.)

Extra kudos for explaining "Privacy Manager."

  1. Its really annoying. Phones are creepy.

  2. Because you don't have a name and so we are not going to answer it!! YOU BIG DUMBO!!

  3. if one has anonymous call rejection or privacy manager, you must unblock your number to get a hold of that person, so dial *82 to show your name and number on the caller id since anonymous call rejection blocks anything that does not either show a name or a number. This is best if you just want to flat out block anonymous and private calls.

Privacy manager is the same thing as anonymous call rejection, but subtle differences give it the privacy manager name. Privacy manager allows one to at least hear the persons voice and/or name of the person calling so you will have an idea of who is calling you similar to caller id even if the number shows private, but privacy manager in a way is like accepting a collect call since it allows you to either deny or accept the call from that person. You can even hit an option to make the person show as a solicitor. I believe it is option 4 from the privacy manager subscribers phone. Privacy manager also allows the subscriber to set an access code so that only they have access to turn the feature on or off, and they can give the access code to their friends or family who use per line blocking on their phones or blocked cell phones so they can get through without having to say their name every time(the default access number when you call the 800 number is set to the last 4 digits of your phone number). To find out the number to call to set the initial access code, one must call his phone provider to find out the 800 number to call in their respective area. It is a good feature if you don't feel the need to completely block out everyone!

*67 then dial the number--- will make your number private

*82 then dial the number--- will make your number displayed if it already is private.

**tip** if you want to have per line blocking permanently added to your home phone for every call, you must be a victim of domestic violence or be in law enforcement

hope this helps, and don't forget to choose best answer...

  4. So, the thing is, phone safety is often not publicized enough. people tend to ignore the new ways to mess withtheir phones, causing life to be forever boring. I don't know the tecnical terms, but some of the *#s just don't work! I like to think that it's according to phone plans and phone types. But when prank calling, i opt for the *67 option if only because i can hide my number that way. The thing is, people also prank call me, and even though it is obvious who they are, I attempt time and time again to uncloak their number. But whatever, *69 is off the market.
