  1. Geologically speaking, they may be. But for all practical intents and purposes, they are not. It takes millions of years to create fossil fuels.   You and I will all likely be part of the next global fossil fuels reserves in several million years.

Humans are simply not that patient. We can't wait millions of years for the earth to restock the fossil fuel supply, and there is no way to know exactly how much fossil fuel may be available in five or twenty million years.

So, we claim that they are not renewable.  The other part is, no one really knows how long it takes for biological material to be converted into fossil fuels. That's up to the Earth....

  2. it will take more than a million years to make/produce fossil fuels

  3. its in the name....theyre fossil fuels. they are remnants of things that are no more that turned into crude oil as a result of time and pressure. cant replicate the process of making a fossil fuel unless you want to wait a few thousand years.

  4. No more dinosaurs to turn into oil?

  5. Technically, they are renewable, but it takes an extremely long time to reproduce them, plus we use so much of it so quickly that they are practically non-renewable.
