  1. Prices are going up because the media began proclaiming that we were on the brink of an economic downturn.  This invoked a natural reaction from the people to conserve money rather than spend it, driving prices higher.  The idea of the economic stimulus was to get people to spend money, rather than send us into an actual recession, which is good in theory but chances are not likely that it will work.

Gas has more problems on higher levels due to international pricing, supply (exported), and demand...

It's too complicated to pin to one reason.

  2. Think green.

For years we can not drill for oil in the US or off the coast we have not built refineries and not nuke power plants as well. This is all due to the fear from the greens.

hey we all going to die right from a > than one degree in world wide temp rise.

    Right?

  3. In 1999, I used to buy gas in Hopkinton Massachusetts fo $0.99 cents per gallon. Gas is going up for several reasons 1) global demand (i.e. population increases and china and india are growing and have an increased need)2) OPEC is a cartel and controls how many barrels of oil are available. 3) Political unrest in oil producing nations (i.e. Sudan/Argentina/Iraq); 4) devaluation of the American $ (the less our dollar is worth, the more it costs to import); 5) Environmental protests stopped exploration of Anwar in Alaska; 6) This country hasn't made a new refinery in at least 20 years (in part because of environmental regulations); 7) The way stocks and commodities are traded.  Groceries are going up because of the costs of fuel and ethanol (a fuel additive made from corn). Fuel is used in fertilizers and to transport goods and services. Corn is being diverted to use as ethanol in gas. So, grain for livestock is increasing thus making food cost more.  How did China and India get put into this position of having all the jobs?? Our country helped China become part of the WTO (world trade organization) and we have free trade.  So, this country screws itself. They send jobs overseas with outsourcing and offshore manufacturing.  With immigration and not many jobs left in this country, there is downward pressure on wages. So, people get c**p for pays. Because of global competition, politicians routinely object to minimum wage increases or else more jobs will go out of the country or there would be inflation in this country.  So, they really don't care what we earn.  I recall reading in a book that a new college graduate in 1973 made more than a new college graduate in 1999 when adjusted for inflation.  This wage problem has been going on for more than 30 years.  It looks like it's just going to get worse.

  4. i dont know, but it stinks!

  5. Because the gas companies and government are being deciptful and greedy. We have more recoverable oil here in the US than anywhere else.Look up : bakken oil formation

You'll start asking questions to the right people.

  6. Because were giving the money to other countries take care of other problems happening in the other countries. And Thats What Sucks!!!!!

  7. Gas prices are going up because there is getting to be less and less of it. Good thing I'm a conditioned bicyclist. Oh wait, no I'm not... Well, I'm doomed too. C'mon alternative fuel source!
