Because popular kids exude power, induce fear, set the standard, they're great, and everything people want to be (in a shallow sense) so they won't make fun of them, for that reason, just like in the real world why we don't make fun of people like oprah, bill gates, bla bla, because they're the popular kids in the real world and if we said it to their face, it would not be pretty, just like if a popular kid in school doesn't like you, you're f'ed social wise. It's fear.

Everyone is exactly the same, so what if you don't have name brand clothes or you're a cheerleader, quarterback, trumpet player, or you're in a band! Everyone is unique, I think that there shouldn't even be labels, cliques, or anything!

i'm sorta goth. i have friends from all groups, and i make fun of thos i hate, popular or not. it's just that simple.

Goth kids are made fun of because they are either feared, or are way cooler than anyone else, while popular kids are everybody wannabes. Goth is a person who actually knows how to be someone. Popular kids always have to hold there breath when they don't even know if their "friends" are talking behind their back.

Tip: You should hang out with weird people. Wierd people don't look at your hair or clothes, they rate you on humor, and wierdness. popular kids r retarded.

Popular kids dress and act a certain way, (in other words, like all the other popular kids) in order to fit in to that group.

Goth kids dress and act like the other goth kids in order to fit in to that group.  

If you transferred to a different school, where no one knew you, and dressed and acted like the popular kids there, you would be a popular kid.

That being said, why does anyone make fun of anyone else?  It's usually because the person making fun is insecure, and wants everyone to put down the other person so they won't notice what a dork / jerk / idiot / whatever they are themselves.

I hated high school.

One more thought, I've always wondered why people who get tattoos complain that people stare at their tattoos.  Didn't they get them in the first place so people would look at them?  I wonder that about people who dress extreme, as well.

I make fun of goth kids b/c having expensive clothes and lots of friends does not make you sad and depressed...

Everyone is made fun of in some way. Goths make fun of the popular kids and the popular kids make fun of the goth kids. It's just the popular kids do it more open and noticeable cause they think it makes them look cooler and makes them feel better about themselves. I got lucky though I went to a school where the jocks, popular kids, goth kids, the brains and everything else in between we all hung out. I have so many friends that are so different. I mean our Vale victorian was on the football team and robotics. hehe.

People make fun of anything they determine to be different.  Goth is by definition, different.  Popular kids go out of their way to be normal, at least in the stereotype.  Really, we're all different, one way or another, so the whole thing is kind of silly.
