Question:

Why are green industries criticized for profiting off of the environmental movement?

I see many posters on here criticizing Gore and other green movements for profiting off of the idea of greening our environment. If the market calls for it, and people are demanding greener products why are some conservatives against this form of capitalistic venture?

  1. Al "Do as I say, not as I do" Gore profitted by telling all of us little people to conserve while his mansion is using more electricity than 5 average households.  When he and the rest of them start practicing what they preach, I might consider listening.

  2. 'Cos they didn't think of it first.

  3. i don't know,  but it's dumb.  it's just smart business and they are profiting off it,  there is nothing wrong with that.  green marketing is huge right now.

    it's called capitalism!

  4. Jealousy.

  5. Well it's sort of like a vegetarian crying about the poor cows being killed while wearing a leather jacket and boots.  Mr. Gore runs around declaring the sky is falling and telling the regular Mr. & Ms. Smith's of the world we have to change our livestyles or the world will end. However he sits in the ivory tower using megawatt after megawatt but excuses himself because he pays money for tree planting? Then sets up a business so others can "feel" good? Huh?

Many of the so called do-gooder organiztions are really just an other coporation out to make a buck and are as phoney as a three dollar bill.

Moore broke with his comrades during this period, and has emerged as an articulate critic of his former brainchild. Referring to Greenpeace’s “eco-extremism” in March 2000, he described the group in Oregon Wheat magazine as “Anti-human”; “antitechnology and anti-science”; “Anti-organization” and “pro-anarchy”; “anti-trade”; “anti-free-enterprise”; “anti-democratic”; and “basically anti-civilization.”

  6. I think that is fine as long as we don't to the carbon credit system that algore wants, thats when he will profit off of selling fresh air.
