Why are guys on average smarter than girls ?

Everyone in my precalculus class is a guy and IM STRUGGLING?

Actually, each gender has a brain that is more fitted to different things. So there are some things that women are generally smarter at than men as well as vice versa.

Guys are NOT smarter than girls. Actually, it has been shown that most women are indeed smarter. Also, women have 22 brain receptors, men only have four.

Males seem to be smarter in certain areas more often it seems compared with females. This is only a generalization however, because there are always exceptions. Like men are supposed to be better at math overall, and women are supposed to better with language overall. Personally, in my view it has more to do with the individual and their own talents rather then their gender.

Psh, your talking to the girl whose father, a male, okay, every time, EVERY TIME, we would get a new printer, my mom would say she wanted a scanner, and he wouldn't get one, and then this time when we got a new printer, she asked for a scanner, and he said "Well you never mentioned it before."  Honey, she mentioned it EVERY FRIGGIN TIME we got a new printer.

we aren't smarter.  never have been never will be.  in fact most of einsteins theories he stole from his wife.  the advantage we have has no bearing on intellect. it is emotional.  we have the ability to be confident despite evidence that we suck.  this allows us to go forward without second guessing ourselves.  women tend to start out with the correct answer and second guess themselves until they have the wrong one.  it if ain't broke fix it till it is.

First, you're talking about a societal norm, not an inherent situation.  In western culture, math is seen as a male trait.  The boys you're in class with may have taken more math courses than you, and may well have had more tutoring than you.

Second, math is only one area of intelligence.  Because someone is smarter than you at math doesn't mean they are smarter than you overall.  Gardner wrote that there are seven distinct areas of intelligence, with math and linguistic comprehension and expression being the two that are most valued in Western culture.  Other researchers since have further split those areas out.    

Third, It's faintly possible that there is a gender difference is math intelligence.  Some sorts of intelligence seem to have slight gender differences or tendencies, according to standardized tests.  Then again, it may be less a gender issue as it is an individual issue.  I'm an educated guy (BA. MA and PhD), but I struggle with math.  

Hang in there.  I think youmight, like me, just take more effort and more time to pick up certain math concepts, but once you have them, you'll do fine.

Not true. There are many types of intelligence, males tend to be better at logical/technical stuff, it makes them better only in those areas. However, there is a growing number of females entering IT, Engineering, and other technical fields so history must be taken into account as well. Men were educated for centuries, while women were not allowed to. I am sure we see a results of that right now.

through the ages men used their brains a lot that women for.... may be doing all the work of the outside world and women were at work at home and not had any tough brain work. May be this has made men more smarter than women through the evolution process.

And scientists say humans use only fraction of their brains so you or a women could become smarter than men through meditation and improving your involvement in everything you do which will lead to a better understanding of what you try to read or understand....

Men are more controlled by the left side of the drain, dealing with all logic and rational things seen by the human eye. That side also controls mathematical ability, this is why they tend to do better than most women in math, As for women, they are more controlled by the right side of the brain, emotional and language, which is why women tend to be better with languages. The male brain starts out larger than the female brain, due to the fact that men are more large and masculine than women, yet their brain shrinks faster with age. You can brag about how you are better in your language class if they ever pick on you lol!
