Why are horses the only animals we ride on in races?

You know what would kickasscheeks? ZEBRA RACING. Now remember this was my idea first, but if you can make it happen, I will just require a small credit because I want to see it just as bad as you do. Zebra racing, the wave of the future! Or s***w that, Giraffe racing would be pretty neat too! What other animals should we ride?

Horses are not the only animals, there are also ostrich racing where people ride, camel racing, elephant racing

number one, zebras have very weak backs, they have been ridden for years but not in racing because of the medical issues that it would cause, number two, have u ever tried to train a zebra, I haven't but I'm sure its harder then training a horse. They were born to be wild(excuse the pun)

Well ACTUALLY in the Middle East they have camel races all the time!  It's as common as horse racing here!!  I'd like to see dolphin races on the water!!

Exactly how tame are zebras.Any other large creature would either sit on you or eat you.

Zebras are more aggressive than horses, making them much harder to tame.  If you can tame a few of zebras, maybe you can breed them to make them less aggresive, but it would take a lot of time and effort.

Well, it has to be an animal big enough to carry a human.  They have greyhound racing, but they don't have riders because there's no people small enough to ride dogs.

I like the suggestion about cheetah racing... don't fall off your mount or else you'll be eaten!!  lol

Seriously though... the reason they have horse racing and riders is because people have been riding horses forever.  The original horse races were probably between neighbors... they'd challenge each other to see whose horse was the fastest!  That's how quarter horse racing started... they'd race through the town which was about a quarter mile and they found that quarter horses were the fastest at that distance!

It would look kinda ridiculous with us riding on a giraffe.  Besides that, giraffes can kill someone if they step on them.  Ugh, imagine that pink mist.
