  1. OK. A hostel is more a backpacker or youth hostel kind of place, with a bed in a romm with other people (dormitory). A great place to meet people, by the way. A hostal is like a pensione, with single or double, even sometimes rooms for three people, traveling together. They do not offer breakfast, most hostels do.

When checking the websites, be careful!!!! When they write, Hostal 18 Euros a person, it means, that each person in the room (doble for ex.) has to pay 18Euro, which means, the room will be 36. If you take the room for yourself, you also pay 36Euro. Basically, you pay by beds in the room. I once enden up getting the last room there prop. was in Barcelona, which had 3 beds, (18Euros a person) so I payed 54 Euros, sleeping alone. The same comes when you look at hotels,

only, they serve you a breakfast
