  1. It is just their nature. They are very protective of their hummingbird feeders and don't let others feed. In fact, they won't even let their own babies feed there. They are fun to watch dive bombing each other. What fascinating birds.


  2. It is probably a male, if you have a feeder they are just guarding it. You might try  having two feeders in different parts of your yard.
