  1. Polar molecules by definition have a charge - Eg, NaCl  is composed of +ve Na ions and -ve Cl ions. Charged material such as NaCl dissolves in water by interacting with the +ve (H+ ) & -ve (OH-) charges in water. They are water loving because of these interactions = hydrophilic.


  2. because water is polar and polar molecules attract each other, hence the name hydrophilic.
