Why are incidents even minor ones involving aircraft, so thoroughly investigated?

There are more people that die on the roads and drown in the seas even then those incidents are not investigated to the same degree, yet even in the smallest of aircraft and the most minor of incidents some of those with absolutely no injuries are followed through with a full and thorough investigation. Is there a reason as to why aviation comes under such scrutiny?

  1. Yes, because it could be due to a fault in the plane's design and such faults aren't easily discovered, the thorough investigation is needed to insulate the problem if there is one. If you can discover such a fault in a minor incident it can avoid a major one.

  2. Terrorism, and to check for further faults. There are no lay-bys in the sky to pull over if you get a problem..

  3. The impact of an aircraft crash is a lot bigger than that of a car wreck. You not only have the people in the plane(s) but there are those on the ground. Incidents are investigated to help prevent accidents.

  4. I think it's because of Avation and it's tie to Terrorisim..im not sure though.

A plane crash can kill hundreds of people in an instant, a car crash also kills, but not at that magnitude.

  5. OK lets say you lost your son in a plane crash.

h**l, people could careless about what happen and ends went cold.

How would you feel? Suicidal? Wouldn't that kill you?

Yes, it may be true more people die on the roads but a plane kills more people at once.

You also have to understand they investigate airplane crashes to make sure the same thing wont go wrong with other airplanes.

Remember the American Airlines a300 crash in Queens in November of 2001?

They investigated that and found the rudder of pretty much every a300 was in horrible condition.

If that one plane crash wasn't looked into, many more people would have been injured, if not killed.

  6. The loss of so many lives at one time. If it can happen to a small plane it can happen to a large plane.

  7. More importantly; why aren't car accidents investigated the same way?
