Why are international football players less patriotic than rugby players.?

I've just been watching the first half of Rep. of Ireland v Wales and it disgusted me that not one of the Wales players sang along with the national anthem.They did not even show any emotion or pride, they might as well have been playing the Russian anthem.Contrast this with the Welsh rugby players last week, they were singing with gusto, emotion and pride.

Why this difference do you think?

This makes me think of the cockney-now an actor- Vinnie Jones, who played for Wales through the grandparents gate, demanding John Hartson teach him all words to the anthem the night before the match!

This is passion!

On saying that, I once heard an ex welsh international -may have been Giles-cannot remember, saying he could not sing the anthem because he was to choked!

So let us not jump to conclusions here!

Not all the rugger players sing it, and I did notice, more of them sang against England than any other game!

One reason you only have to look at the pathetic performance of England against those greats of football Israel, money all these fancy nancy boys are bothered about is their cheque books and fancy hairstyles.

There's less money in rugby than there is in football.People just want money-you give it to them and they'll give you 120% and a whole lot of pride.

Probably because rugby players have more pride in playing rugby for their country.  Rugby in Wales is like a second religion.  It's in the blood.  Football is... just football.  

Maybe as also to do with the fact that the 6 nations are on every year so there are more times that the anthem is actually sung.

Lastly, the anthem is actually in Welsh so takes a bit of learning and effort.

And very lastly..... rugby players are fabulous!!!!  Happy viewing!
