With NAFTA and the global economy opening our doors for products from around the world, and Americans in search of items of reasonable quality at the lowest price, the shift of jobs away from our country was inevitable. The cost of labor is a big factor in an item price, and when wages can be one tenth in another country than it is here, the price will be lower, and Americans will buy those products. We have become caught in our own trap, wanting low prices, but then being mystified that American jobs are going away. It is the Walmart effect, pure and simple.

Businessmen and industrialists do  not have any love for a country but for the profits and why not ?To remain competitive and cost effective,they shall move to any process or a place.Wage structure in America being quite high,they are justified in going to any place to cut costs.So the jobs are moving out of America and shall continue till American labor can provide skills which other nations can't.That's not likely to happen any time soon as there are very few Americans with that kind of skills and their education system and attitude of workforce wouldn't change any time soon.

Americans have become lazy. Companies can get more with less overseas. . Why not leave. There is no incentive to stay. The consumer should start requesting "made in america" on the products they buy. This is the only thing that can/will bring jobs back.

Jeffrey is correct.  Most global companies outsource their manufacturing work to other countries where labour is cheap.

Even  "made in America" products are mostly only put together in America.

A lot of labelling is false.
