Why are kids, preteens and teenagers so stupid?

Why are kids, preteens and teenagers so stupid in this day and age. Parents, teachers and people tell them what not to do, and why not to, but they still do it.

Example: Talking to people you don't know online and giving them your information. These kids are so stupid and don't understand why its a big no-no. They think that because some guy says he loves them after a week of knowing them online, that they are the love of their life. Then they meet, and wham, the kid is raped and dead, found on the side of the road.

Like, come on. How can SO MANY children be so stupid. Can anyone explain to me how the h**l they get it in their head that the things they are doing it okay. So many of the things are stupid. Where the h**l does it come from?

The adolecent age, most of the times makes you go through an "Im invincible" phase. When you think "Just because she got pregnant doesn't mean I will too" sort of thing. And also don't forget about peer pressure, and the rush to want to grow up already.

wow... if that's not stereotyping, i don't know what is.  i'm SIXTEEN and i don't give personal information out on the internet, my myspace is set to a private mode where i must approve my friends, and if i don't know them, i don't approve them.  

my friends and i think that it's very stupid to talk to people we don't know over the internet, in today's media, you hear of every bad thing that happens from all over the world.  and you hear it over and over again.  but since you think that a lot of teens are stupid, what about this one:

WHY ARE SOO MANY ADULTS SO STUPID???

i mean come, they want to have s*x with underage kids that they meet online???? who can be that stupid to do that?? and what about the adults that sign up online for web dating services, don't they give a lot of info on that?  didn't their parents tell them not to talk to strangers???  or give out too much info to people they don't know, or why didn't they teach them that having s*x with little kids is wrong??

and many adults are stupid, it's not just the kids, just try thinking about it the other way around for once.

It's not just kids. How many times have adults been told the potential consequences of smoking or drinking and driving. A lot of people listen, but there are always a few who think they can do whatever they want and somehow dodge the consequences.

Okay, well I'm 17 and I've never done anything like you've mentioned in your post--but I can say that when kids are told by adults not to do something, it only makes us want to do it more. Some kids are just plain ignorant though, and that's how bad things happen.

There are stupid people in every generation. Adults make bad decisions too. It's not fair to call every single teenager and kid today stupid because of the minority. Reason many teenagers do stuff like drugs is because of peer pressure and not knowing future consequences of their actions, which is up to the parent to teach them that as the school system when talking about drugs is blowing it completely out of proportion to a point where no one will trust what the school says about drugs (When I was in 6th grade they told us that smoking just one joint will hook us on it and obviously that's a lie) . Reason we were taught that is because of adults stupidity and ignorance about weed which is actually a very useful herb (look it up in google) . Also parents and schools sadly are not teaching children about safe s*x, due to adults ignorance that teenagers are going to have s*x and if not taught about condoms and STI's will most likely get pregnant or get a STI. Now tell me that compared to adults every teenager is stupid.

Some people are just complete morons. They seem to have an inferiority complex of some sort.

I'm a young teen and marvel at the stupidity of some of those girls. But I assume I was just gifted with a large amount of common sense and survival smarts. I've met many people online, and have many friends, but I was never stupid enough to give away my information. Just telling them what state you're in is the most you should give away ever. But I guess nobody realizes that.

They are stupid because they are stunted by society today which gives them zero responsibility and then gets mad when their hormones start raging and they become 'young adults' without the mental, psychological or societal equipping to know what to do with that.

A few thousand years ago it wasn't a travesty for a 'boy and girl' to marry aged 12 or 13. The boy was a worker and had to provide for his family and the girl also was a worker making clothes from scratch, preparing food, harvesting the food garden etc.

Parents these days want to control their children and call them 'kids' and tell them what to do. When their body clock clicks into adult mode they are too molly coddled to know how to function and make wise choices for themselves although they rebel because its time for them to be asserting their independence. Trouble is they are not ready. Its not only the kids at fault. But society and parents as a whole in my opinion.

I would never do that.I also think that there aren't enogh adverts about dangers of the internet. In Poland, everytime adverts were on tv it came up like... 3 times- at begining, middle and a reminder on the end. I never seen one in UK or Cypurs.

It's not all kids that are like that. They're not stupid either. Most of the time they are on here trying to find someone to talk to and be friends with because they don't get the attention they need at home. A 10 year old has no business in a chatroom for adults and wouldn't be there if someone was there to talk to them. But a lot of the time kids are turned loose with a cell phone, a camera and the internet and very bad things happen. Where are the parents when something like the rape and death that you mentioned happens? They weren't there to tell the kid not to give out their # online. Kids who do that only do it because they never were told what would happen. Therefore, they had to find out for themselves.

but to the answerers on here do not blame the parents. usually its not their fault. they can talk and scream and monitor their kids all they want, it doesnt matter teens will still do what they want to do.

and to the people who are saying "why didnt their parents raise them right?"  you dont know anything about their parents, they could have given them the best lifestyle they could have, but the teens are STILL going to do whatever they want. Dont blame the parents because you dont know anything about them, the way they raised their kids, or how their lifestyle is.

Once you actually get some facts about the parents or whoever your judging then MAYBE you can pass judgement, but other then that you have no right to say anything about anyone you dont even know.

I know what you mean about SOME kids being pretty stubborn. But that's soooo not true for a lot of kids and teens. It's just learning about what you can and can't do in the world, all kids are like that. You were the same, just like everyone else. Everyone makes bad choices, and not just kids!
