Why are large companies outsourcing work to India, Philippines and Argentina?

They're outsourcing them because they don't demand as much pay and their productivity is almost as good as Americans.

This is a huge debate in globalization, as you're right - it takes jobs away from Americans. Supporters will argue that in the long-term, outsourcing allows for a more advanced workforce. If we outsource more manufacturing jobs, we will be able to focus our efforts on more advanced industries.

The best way for the US govt to combat this is to provide funds for retraining programs for US workers. This will better equip people losing jobs to outsourcing to compete in the service economy the US has developed into.

Consumers are demanding ever lower prices.  To compete,  many companies feel forced to lower costs by going over seas.

Because they "think" it is cheaper.  BUT...they are finding out that once they form companies in other countries that the workers are forming unions and demanding higher wages and the same rights and standards that American workers wanted all along.

They moved thinking they didn't have to pay for insurance and wouldn't have to pay raises.  They thought they could get away with paying taxes on American soil.

They can put out inferior products and we would still buy them.

And it is so true...

there are millions of Americans who do need jobs.

I always try to buy American.  I've always bought only Volvo's but bought a Cadillac recently just so I could buy "American:".  If I have to pay more to support my country I will.  Go American!!!  I'm a US Veteran and I love my Country!!!
