Why are liberals so different today

Not long ago we had a avalanche of movies and books concerning the evils of nuclear weapons The liberal youth in America and most over the pond were calling for the west to disarm and maybe the USSR well Over the pond they had many nuclear free zones ,the country of NZ was a nuclear free zone. Now it must have been disconcerting for them that crazy countries like the U S of A ,France and the U K had these weapons But today now that North Korea ,Iran and others would seem to be acquiring them they seem to be all sophisticated about it some even telling us ''it's their right ,you have them'' Why do you think this is

I dont think any nation state is in favour of North Korea, or Iran having nukes, apart from those states themselves.

There are also a lot of people who are uncomfortable with India, Pakistan and Israel having them as well.

What does happen however is that SOME liberals consider it to be racist dual standards that we in the west consider ourselves so morally superior that we are allowed to have world ending weapons but no-one else is.

We should be honest about it at say so. The fact is that since WW2 the only countries that have had nukes have been ones where the government has been afraid of dying, whereas the new breed of lunatic religious or cultural fanatic would quite happily destroy themselves to get at us.

So do i feel morally superior to the leaders of Iran and North Korea?

I don't think you've been paying attention - NOBODY is allowing North Korea or Iran to have nuclear bombs.
