  1. It's to cold for them. They are cold blooded creatures and in winter they are very lethargic because they do not have the energy because it is to cold for them.

  2. Maybe becuase they will die they are cold blooded

  3. Lizards are exothermic. That means their body temperature closely matches the air temperature. That's why you see them lying on a nice warm rock in the sunshine in the early mornings. When it gets too cold, their muscles don't work so well and they can't make their own heat like other animals can. They just find a nice safe place to hide and wait for a warm day.

  4. Lizards are reptiles. Reptiles are cold blooded. Cold blooded animals don't maintain their own body temperature. Their body temperature depends on the atmospheric temperature. When it's hot, they have a higher body temperature and when it's cold they have a lower body temperature. This affects their behavior as well. When it's hot, they are active, but they go to sleep at lower temperatures since they become drowzy and are in a low energy state due to lower body temperature. So during winter, lizards are probably asleep somewhere, since their lethargic during this time at that cold temperature. This is why they aren't seen outside during winter.

  5. because they are cold blooded and need the heat to survive.

some reptiles that live in cooler climates will brumate in the winter, this is a form of hibernation for reptiles.
