I've been wondering about this for ahwile. I mean, your actual heart is kinda ovalish, right? So why do love hearts look different from the organ heart, and how did they get that look? Thanks to any answers that help!

  1. LOL all are mistaken so far. The heart symbol's orgin goes back father than we've had anotomical knowledge of the human heart. The shape is cited as most likely immitating the shape of the female buttocks when seen from behind and slightly above. Kind of a . . . well, indelicate origin, that's why others have come up with other origins. A catholic story has it appearing to a nun as the sacred heart of Jesus, another associated it with a seedpod used by ancient indiginous people as a form of birth control. But when pressed, almost every expect will sheepishly point out the similarites and the time of the orgin of the symbols and tell you to draw your own conclusions.
