  1. Because the team was trying to hide the real DYNO numbers. They had a hot engine but didn't want to get penalized for it, so they shimmed the accelerator so it would not go to the floor board and thus the dyno test would show less than real hp ratings.

  2. It's not so much as it was magnets. They were put there to prevent the gas pedal from going to the floor, so it seem like the throttle was to the floor, but it was 3/4" off. They did it so the horsepower seemed lower. Could have been anything under it, washers, wood, anything to stop full throttle.

  3. no there not illegal to have or to be on the car they put them in a spot  to cheat the Dyno the Dyno don't lie if you put a spacer so the pedal will only go down 70% the motor wont show its full power

  4. They are not illegal! NASCAR is pissed because JGR might have tried t s***w up their surprise horsepower test on the winning car. I don't think it's any of their business anyhow. Next they will be taking the driver's wives home to see how much having s*x with them increases performance.

  5. Here is the entire story: Nascar has been testing the toyota's on a dynomometer to determine how much horsepower they are producing... After a recent test, they made rule changes that caused toyota to modify their motor and in turn, the toyota engine created less horsepower.

After a recent race, Nascar required two of the JGR toyotas to undergo a surprise second round of dynomometer testing.... when the toyota team provided the cars with one small modification: they had placed magnetic shims on the bottom of the gas pedal; between the pedal and the pedal stop... that would stop the throttle from being completely opened by a little more than 1/4".... that in turn would provide bogus results to Nascar and in theory, would lessen any further restrictions placed on the toyota motor program.

It is in Nascar's best interest to try to level the playing field and have excellent competitions on the track. They have always made changes during the season based on a manufacturers dominance... JGR was caught trying to modify the test results in an effort to stop any future rules modifications.....

Definitely conduct detrimental to all other car owners and to the competition of Nascar - who knows how long they have been doing it? They could have provided bogus data from day one.
