Why are male beach voleyballers always shirtless?

I am mainly talking about American volleyball. Other countries don't count, because they mostly suck at volleyball.

Haha, actually other countries like China I think it is are pretty good at volleyball but anyways, it does get pretty d*mn hot out there so they try to keep as cool as possible. Plus, they have s**y bodies so why not show what ya got while havin' fun and stayin' cool, heh.

umm well if ur name is jack it scares me that u say "....so we can gaze upon their hot, s**y, muscular bodies?" but they probably get really hot playing and since men dont needa wear shirts they just figure whats the point

because during the summer and at the beach it's HOT! everyguy plays shirtless, and almost every girl plays in her swimsuit at beaches and outside. It's simple

The shirts get in the way if they are lose and some just do it to show off there body's to the ladies.

Cause it's hot outside.. Why would you want to wear a shirt when you're running around on sand?  That's a lot of "baggage" added to the perspiration.  Besides, they look good shirtless; best way to enjoy the game;) lol

watch international tournaments for crying out loud if your making too much of a big deal of it. because in fivb tournaments they wear shirts

you are watching to much recreational volleyball players, if they are not wearing shirts.

If you watch the AVP tour on TV you will see that the men are required to wear shirts. They can be tank tops or muscle shirts but they must wear shirts.

Recreational level players, or ammatures as they are known as, typically waer no shirt. This is beacuae the shirts get wet when they sweat, and then keep all the sand on the shirt.

A wet shirt + diving in the snd = a wet and dirty, and heavy shirt, so it's smarter to go with out. But you will also notice that they keep a shirt or towel real close to help remove the sand from their sweaty bodies.

Lastly the USA is no way near the brazilians in volleyball, so watch the olympics next time they are around, and watch the Brazilians kick our american butts off the court.

well Jack, the AVP has a mandated uniform.  The guys and girls' uniforms must meet certain specifications for the finals.  This allows the AVP to garner the largest audience because, as you said, the s*x appeal.  Someone said that the AVP guys must wear shirts, they are mistaken.  Check the pictures at AVP.com.  But as far as practicality, it is like asking why do indoor female player wear spandex... it is most comfortable as it affords freedom of movement.

Usually because it's hot. It's not rocket science. I play beach volleyball and tend to wear a bathing suit only.
