Marriage is a friggin huge commitment... people of both genders are beginning to realize that it's not one that should be made lightly.

Also, when people have longer life expectancies, they can afford to wait a few years.

High divorce rates + unfair divorce system + too many unmarriageable, unworthy, spoilt drama queens + the freedoms of being single + all the reasons against, which are stated on this page = you'd be nuts or a m*******t to do so!

Well we have broken a point in history where we actually have more single women than married.  I would suspect that men are not reluctant, but are simply following the trend of getting married later, not at all or simply cohabiting with partners.

Theyre not... they just have higher standards than American liberated feminists can provide.  What guys -want- to marry dirty s****s that spend their youth having s*x with random men, and then decide to -settle- for you because they are getting too old for the young life.  Call me an assshold... but I have standards for myself.  Id rather be single and alone than be stuck in an unsatisfying relationship with a dingleberry

Women have learned the art of deception, just as men have deceived for centuries on the basis of love, to get down a girls pants, then leave her with a pregnancy she doesn't know how to handle. I think both sexes have learned we live in a corrupt society altogether and are afraid of being suckered, having our futures destroyed and being taken for everything we have, whether your a man or woman. You just can't trust a word that comes out of anyones mouth anymore, because it appears that everyone is out to take everyone for everything they have. I have one boy and one girl and I told them both that only fools get married in this society no matter what their s*x is. ;-(

well why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? it's not just guys who are reluctant, women are too. with the divorce rates increasing, alot of ppl prefer to just stay in a relationship where both parties are happy.

Because I have YET to see any benefit to getting married that isn't in the favor of women.

The best thing people can come up with is "Married men live longer". But as someone who cares more about QUALITY OF LIFE than LENGTH of life.... I don't see that as being a benefit. Living long is over rated. If I'm not enjoying life and my kids are grown up... what the helI am I hanging around for?

A new study showed that men are more reculant to marry because they are afraid of divorce. If you are a man who has money, you may not marry for fear you could lose your money. If you are a man without money you could be afraid of not being able to provide for a family.

Men see women who dream about getting married and having a wedding and the social status of being 'married,' and we balk.

It's not because we're indecisive; men make more dicisions then women do, generally.  It's because we're afraid that woman wants to GET MARRIED, not necessarily get married to us.  We happen to be the guy who's there when she decides she needs to have a wedding.  It's not for love, it's for the status of being maried.  Think of it as a check-list.

Reasons I can think of.

- Freely available women that will have s*x without marriage.

- You can live with a person without being married.

- Divorce is extremely easy to do.

- The divorces courts are insanely in favor of the woman. As judges are never held accountable of their decisions they can discriminate al they want as long as they make it look legal.

- Too great rate of divorces

- The immense rate of divorces is initialized by women.

- Being married do not give any benefits to men.

Just look at all the girls/women who have mothers at home who filed for divorce.

If your sweety has a mum at home that "took him for all he is worth" would you marry ?

If you have money you are afraid to loose it, if you have very little money you are afraid to have literally just the money left after a divorce to put food done your throat.
