Well usually when someone is abusive, they had experienced it from their childhood. Also alcohol could be a factor.

Men who abuse women do it for control.They feel the need to feel in charge.The truth is that men who beat on women are cowards.They're not a man.Abusing a woman doesn't make you a man.It just makes you an abuser.

Men/women who abuse children do it for control.Children are easily controlled and vulnerable and they run with that.

People who are abusive have serious control issues.

Do you mean why are women abusive to men and vice versa?

If so, I think men abuse women because they are insecure and feel the need to pick on someone who can't hit back as hard. Women are abusive to men probably 'cause they be and it makes them get their own way.
