  1. If they were allowed pitchers and fans would be getting killed or seriously injured.  Do you see the damage hitters do with wood?  Well with metal they would do 10 times the damage.  These big league hitters are very powerful hitters and can do a lot of damage if given a metal bat to play with.  Not to mention with how quick the ball comes off a bat it cuts down the reaction time of the fielders.

  2. The hitters hit enough home runs on steroids they don't need the metal bats to help more.

  3. Not only is a danger like everyone else said, it would be unfair to older players like Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth. They had to use wooden bats, it wouldn't be fair if someone beat their record but didn't have the same circumstances.

  4. because there lighter and the batspeed will be faster and stronger than a wooden bat and basically evrypitch hitten with some good contact would go over the fence for round tripper and also safety a metal bat wont splinter and well its more dangerous very lethal in any accident that eventually would occur

  5. I see that you're going to get a lot of the usual statements that metal bats are dangerous and that batted balls would kill players.

Absolute nonsense. Metal bats must meet specifications that prevent them from batting a ball with more force than a wood bat. The ONLY advantage metal bats have over wood bats these days is they don't break when the hitter is jammed by a pitch. This means more bloop hits that would be easy outs for the infielders.

The reason metal bats aren't allowed in the pros is very simple: The rules have never been changed to allow them. You guys do realize that metal bats didn't even exist when the rules were first written, don't you? (Oh, wait, for some of you history didn't begin until you were born...)

There's no reason to change the rules now anyway because metal bats are around only because they are cheaper for amateur and youth leagues to have. The pros have money to spend on replacing broken wood bats. Amateur teams do not.

  6. a high school pitcher died because the batter hit the ball and he was using a alluminum bat.the baseballs just come off the bat way to fast with tremendous force.

  7. The answer is not because of injuries. There is just as much as a potential for injury with wood bats shattering. Metal bats have a bigger "sweet spot," and therefore the game would turn into an offensive explosion. A professional baseball league with metal bats would be like Arena Football: way too much scoring.

  8. They are too light and powerfull a ball that would come off of a metal would go sufichently faster then a ball of a wood bat. Therefore it could hurt a player.

  9. They are not alloud because metal bats let you hit the ball with more force and the ball bounces (not right word) off the bat more

  10. the balls would fly out of the park. the only reason lower levels use aluminum is because it is harder to break aluminum and therefore less expensive.

  11. if they allowed metal bats they would either have to move the fences back another hundred feat or keep them the sm and each game would be like a home run derby. The average mlb player would probably have 30 homeruns and power hitters like pujols or howard would easily hit at least 60 im sure. Plus like the guy before me said it could be dangerous for the players

  12. they make the ball go faster and farther than with a wood bat, which makes them very dangerous. of coarse now that they r using maple bats which break all the time, i guess they dont care about safety.
