The problem with the question assumes that we are applying the human measures of intelligence to non-humans.   Monkeys are intelligent enough to live in their environments as are humans.  That is, intelligence is an evolutionary adaptation to the environment.  Humans are well adapted to their environment, and monkeys are as well.
