Why are more and more people are seen by specialists then generalists nowadays as suppose to in the past

Insurance! Every Doctor has to have Personal Indemnity Insurance and that costs. Therefore if a Generalist misses something or makes the wong diagnosis, they leave themselves open to be sued! Far better for the Generalist to send a Patient with suspected problem to the Consultant, who has trained in that specialty. The Consultant also has personal indemnity insurance, so if they make a mistake......

Because more people have specific things wrong and feel that if they go to someone who specializes in whats wrong it will be treated properly.
