Why are mosquitos attracted to moisture?

It has been raining here everyday and I've recently discovered that the more it rains, the more the mosquitos come out. Why is this?

  2. Mosquito eggs can lie dormant in areas where water stands when it rains. Mosquitoes lay eggs in water and live the first part of their lives in water.

  3. The larvae are hatching. They nymphs are flying. The skeeters are biting.

  4. Mosquito's  are attracted to moisture to lay there eggs. The females like to find stagnant water in a protected area to ensure her larva will survive. Next time you go out side and find a stagnant pool of water that has been there awhile; you are likely to see small larva that twitch. Those twitching larva are mesquites that have not went threw with there metamorphosis. Also Female mesquites only drink blood when they are about to lay eggs. Normally both sexes of mesquites eat sap.

  5. Places that are moist have a tendency to attract mosquitos because the moisture of the area is a good place for mosquitos to lay their eggs.

  6. they like it because it is usually where they lay their eggs (larvae)
