Question:

Why are [most] men so sexist?

Over the years I've noticed how sexist men are. They belittle women and don't give them the proper respect in any setting. Whether it's a work place, a party, or a simple encounter in a store. They won't greet us, they cut us off during conversation and their expectations for us are ridiculously low as if to say we're incompetent. When they're cornered and have nothing else to say in a debate or an arguement, they desperately defend their name by pulling out a sexist joke implying that women are only good for s*x. Is it just because this is the ignorant portion of the male population? Or does their ethnic background have to do with it? I've met more respectable Caucasian men than Hispanic/Black men. I hate to say this but it seems like minorities lack refinement and education. I've met sexist women as well, but not as many as male sexists. What's going on?

  1. You move in the wrong circles. Get yourself some real friends.

  2. Yes, I live in India and here too most men are sexist in nature. Still I don't think this is their personal fault. The social norms are very much responsible for moulding their attitude ever since their childhood. The men who don't have enough brains succumb to these evil norms though the intelligent ones are never trapped in this manner. So always be optimistic. Most men may be sexist, but not all men.

  3. Your circle of sad male friends should not force you to stereotype the entire male population.

  4. Everything I've experienced suggests that women are more harsh to each other socially and in the workplace than men are to women.

Women are catty about dress and appearance ("I can't believe she wore that again" or "that hairstyle is so last year"), about others' qualifications ("wonder who she slept with to get the job"), even other women's voices ("too squeaky" or "she sounds like a man") - things that men could never get away with uttering...because they'd be called sexist.

If there's any cultural component to this kind of behavior, it's that it's prevalent among snooty, Buffy-types - a bunch of "Desperate Housewives" wannabes.

  5. If you haven't met many female sexists then you just haven't been around.  All women with any authority over men are sexist without regard for the business itself, their primary concern is letting the men know that a woman is running the place, even if she is running it into the ground.

  6. In the gender balance, I have noticed there seems to be someone for everyone. There are so many sexist men because there needs to be one for each of the sexist women. Your question makes me think you're not only sexist, you're racist, too. Perhaps you're attracting your equals.
