Why are most models skinny?

maybe this is a stupid question...but i dont get it.

like why do they have 2 weigh like 50 pounds (lol)

and be like 6'2

??

Not all models are skinny or that tall. Most models are 5'9" to 5'11" tall there is barely models that are taller than 6'0". Models don't even way anywhere near 50lbs because they're banning models from walking with BMI under 18.5. Also not all models are Size 00 alot of them now are sizes  or 4 nowadays and they do eat. The clothes are small because of the fabric. It costs money with fabric, imagine using fur for a fashion show and you need extra because a model is to big for it. You can't use it, waste of money.

It's in fashion these days but I don't get it. The models are skinny but more people are increasing in size.

Because that's what the fashion industry wants. Unless it's specifically for an "average" or "plus sized" agency/show, you will not get a job if you're not a specific height, weight, and look. Agencies will flat out tell you "You're too fat" "Your nose is too big" "You're not what we want".

Luckily, a lot of companies are steering away from the whole "heroin chic" thing and not accepting models that don't look healthy, but it hasn't become the norm yet. Hopefully some day we will get there so girls will stop looking at these magazines and developing eating disorders.

To fit the clothes. Most couture or haute couture designers sew clothes that are size 1 or 2. If you can't fit the outfits you don't get booked.

While most people don't want to be THAT skinny, that is the body type that fits the widest amount of styles.  It is less work for fashion designers because they don't have to worry about b***s, butts, and hips (which women want, so thats kinda ironic).

If a woman has big b***s, you have to worry about things staying where they're supposed to be (ask women with b***s, they can't wear just anything).

As for the tall thing, these girls who do runway have to be tall so that they can be seen by the whole room.

Whenever people think of the word model, they usually imagine someone very pretty and gorgeous and this is because of how society portrays beauty.

Our society has a set image for beauty and that is to be tooth pick skinny and to have good looks. Therefore in order for the models to be successful they have to meet the requirements of the word "beautiful" to be popular and so that more people appreciate them. Which is totally stupid. This situation is because of how "people" have set certain images for everything.

Basically models go with the image of being pretty and in our society the set image of being pretty is to be extremely skinny.

Also, they some models who do not really believe in this would probably want to be thin in order to be compatible with other or because they usually have to wear clothes that expose parts of their body which look pretty when they are thin.

It's not that they have to . . . . But people would rather see some skinny model than a fat cellulitey model . . . . . . . And plus there are + sized models that are just as beautiful. :)
