Why are most people so closed minded about aliens, the supernatural, etc.?

I mean, why do people think they know that aliens couldn't possibly exist, or that ghosts don't haunt houses, or that strange creatures hide right under our noses? They certainly do not know everything about the world, as a large chunk of the world has yet to be explored and there are so many mysteries out there. Its weird, too, because there has been more evidence proving these supernatural phenomena as possibilities than proving them false. WHAT ARE PEOPLES' PROBLEM????? Why can't we just all see things from a neutral perspective leaning towards the "maybe" rather than the "of course not." I just like to think "I don't know." I lean towards yes, but only because of evidence that has been proved.

Because people believe that God only created what we can see. If we don't see it for ourselves, then God didn't create it.

Religion closes minds.

They also don't believe in Evolution, and believe that our universe is the only universe that God ever created. There aren't a million suns out there, there aren't more planets thousands and billions of light years away.

Humans have a natural tendency to be afraid of things that we don't understand and block those things out. We would hate to find out that, all of a sudden, there are lifeforms more beautiful or brilliant than any human can aspire to be. We feel safe in our little bubbles. Kudos to you for thinking outside the box, but at the same time, be compassionate. It is human nature and most of us can't help it. Feel pity or compassion instead of anger when dealing with people who aren't as open-minded as you are.

People tend to seek a more realistic answer before they jump to the conclusion that "What the person saw was definitely a ghost or an alien."

Personally, I believe in Ghosts because I have seen a few with my own eyes. Maybe they have to see it to believe it?
