  1. Most have parents from the "me" generation.

  2. Their parents are responsible for this.  Most teenagers are very spoilt.  They believe that the more you own the better you are - better than other people   It is very sad.

  3. that is a product of capitalism. not that aim aginst it but it is a fact. iam for any system i can survive in.

  4. "As The Twig Is Bent, So Grows The Vine " Parental influence as to what is important in your life leads a child into teen age years with values based on the examples that the parents provided.

  5. most people are materialistic period.

    why single out teens?

I suspect one reason they may seem more materialistic is that the teen years are usually when people first get access to disposable income.

  6. Parents and societies influence...you turn on the tv to anything related to teens n what not you get nothin but fashion, style, and the more i got the more twankle n glisten, the more hot i'll be.

Then parents themselves indulge in nothing but the high life, or at least try, work hard to make the family happy with material stuff, and so on and so forth, you get kids influenced into the material life.  Everyone wants to get rich and have nice things, and it becomes the basis for children's development.

Fortunately there's also family relationships and communication...along with enjoying the finer things in life that somehow help....but with the convenience of technology, cell phones, computers.......freakin myspace, and all this access to the hottest newest fashion blah blah and celebrity communication....you'll get kids more into the newest verizon wireless features and how they can hook up rather than worry about spending some time outside to enjoy a beautiful morning.

  7. I'm not. I have more important things to concern myself with.

  8. i'm not

  9. I had a very modest upbringing, we didn't even have a tv for most of my childhood so I certainly never had the best trainers or video games etc.

It was only when I started high school that I was made to feel ashamed of my "poorness" by the other kids. Yes parents can bring up their children to be spoilt, but peer pressure also plays a very big part.

Children can be picked on and bullied for not having the "coolest" stuff, and so the parents give in to the demands.
