  1. because no matter how old the movie is = the person doing the review is doing it NOW - therefore the present tense.

    If you did a review of Superman 1 - it would be in the present tense because you are doing the review today, tomorrow etc.   The movie is years old.

    It's a present day review = no matter how old the movie is.
