  1. Many species of mushrooms seemingly appear overnight, growing or expanding rapidly. This phenomenon is the source of several common expressions in the English language including "to mushroom" or "mushrooming" (expanding rapidly in size or scope) and "to pop up like a mushroom" (to appear unexpectedly and quickly). In actuality all species of mushrooms take several days to form primordial mushroom fruitbodies, though they do expand rapidly by the absorption of fluids.

  2. mushrooms are NOT called mushrooms. It is ONLY an English expression representing these 'mushrooms' :D if that makes sense.

Language is arbirtrary. it's artificially made. the words have no connection to the object, thought, idea , or anything else. (well there are a few words that kinda do - such as   OUCH, or AWWW.. but these arent actual words are they.

  3. let me ask you a question.

    why is anything called anything?
