I usually wear them for the whole day. Today, only my right eye was hurting and it was blurry.they said that it was the buildup of protein. I dont usually rinse them in my hands after i take them out. Should i get another pair. Only my right eye is bad. Left is perfectly fine

  1. just rinse it off. this happens to me 2.

  2. throw both out, also make sure to clean your contact before putting them away and before putting them back in. You can do major damage to your eyes making it where you cannot wear contacts. In some cases bad contact habits can even cause you to lose your eye sight due to things like infections.

Have a look at the link above.  There are some dramatic photographs of problems that occur from over wearing your lenses.  Pain in the eye is never normal.  Take the lens out and make an emergency appointment with your optometrist.

They will recommend the best course of action, based on what's actually wrong.

The optometrist will put a drop of fluorescein stain in your eye and look through a microscope for any damage or trouble spots.

Your contact lenses, if covered in protein, will cause scratching on the front surface of the eye.

If the lenses are designed to be cleaned and reworn for longer than one month, you should be using a protein removal system, including cleaning them in your hands.

If the lenses are meant to be worn for a set time - for ex: one month, then thrown away, you should not over wear them, as damage will occur.

Keep your vision clear, by keeping your cornea's healthy.  There are some fantastic things happening in contact lens design and technology.  Get to your optometrist for the best solution.

  4. - if you wear disposable lenses you probably just need to change them.

    - if they're not disposable, give them a good cleaning.  opti-free makes a special solution that reduces protein build-up, you can buy it at any drugstore (it comes in a really small bottle because you only use it about once a month.)

    - if that doesn't work maybe you just need to give your eyes a break.  wear glasses for a few days

    - if it doesn't get better you might need to get an exam.  maybe your prescription for the right eye has changed.

  5. yeah they could be dirty, you should use a cleaner before putting them in your eyes.i found out too that if i wear them for extended times that they make my vision blurry even when i take them out.
