  1. Sad to say it won't play HD DVD's only upconvert regular DVD's to near HD quality.  I gave storm a thumbs up becuase he is right.  I would go with Blu Ray because most movie studio's are switching to blu ray.  HD is starting to lose the war.  But then again once Blu Ray takes over we will all start downloading our movies and need a different type of player all together.

  2. You need an HD-DVD player.  The DVD player that you have simply uses up conversion to play a regular DVD at near HD quality, but is not true HD.

    Hope this helps!

  3. a hdmi dvd player is not the same as a HD dvd player,it will only upscale normal dvds to near hd quality.

a hdmi dvd player can be found for as little as 50 quid,HDDVD players are nearer 250 quid.

  4. hahahahahahahahaa

ohhhh this question made my day

  5. Even though it says HDMI, it does not necessarily mean that it can play HD-DVD, HDMI is a connection technology optimized for HD content(i.e. RCA, SDI, USB, Firewire), not a format as per HD-DVD and BLUE-RAY. For you to play HD-DVD, you need to get something that says HD-DVD on the player top.

  6. You need a HD player for it to work..My advise dont get one ....get a blu ray player as the chances of HD dvd format will be obsolete soon as Blu ray is much better and more american film studios supporting blu ray format rather than HD DVD. I also have a panasonic surround the pt85 model and with the blu ray player its superb. Also if you have a 1080p HD plasma or lcd tv is even better

    Good luck
