Ok, so earlier I posted my website on here so people could let me know what they thought of my photos,

But in particular, my Wallace and Gromit Photo's are out of focus! (I personally thought most of them looked alright, but im a beginner so im still learning and listening =) )

Could someone help me figure out what I can do with my camera to make the focus better on close objects? I have a Kodak Easyshare C818

Thankyou =)

  1. I honestly cannot tell much from these photos as they are too small. I can tell, however, that you're depth-of-field (DOF) is quite shallow (not uncommon with closeups) so that you are getting one, but not both, subjects in focus.

    As you're probably shooting automatic exposure, the camera is biasing towards a usable shutter speed and, as a result, sacrificing DOF by using a wider aperture. I don't know this camera at all, but if you can, set the camera to manual, or at least aperture priority, and set the f/stop to the highest number available. That should give you enough DOF to get all in focus.

  2. They are nice photos. Nothings wrong with them, at least not to me.

  3. Some look in focus (to me), some look like one (not sure if it is Wallace or Gromit) is in focus while the other one is not.

    It may be an issue of minimum focusing distance for your camera.  If you are shooting without a flash, it may be that the camera is selecting a large aperture, meaning your depth of field is small.

  4. It could be a simple matter of you being closer to your subjects than you camera will focus ... Somewhere in your owners manual, there will be a statement like, "close focus from 13 cm or the like"  If your camera is closer than the listed distance, then everything closer will be out of focus.

    Once you know how close you can focus, your images will be in focus and sharp
