Why are my TV channels going up by themselves?

I am not touching anything, the channels keep going up and down by themselves and the cable TV is hooked up and not even going on. Does anybody possibly know why this is happening? I'm missing the news!

maybe your button is worn out on the tv.... Like you pushed it to hard and it is held on channel up or down

Check to see if any buttons are loose or if one is pushed in to far

and try taking all the batteries out of your remotes to make sure its not the remotes

Whenever that has happened to me, a remote button was depressed too far and became stuck .

Check remote buttons and tv (or whatever box is doing your tuning)buttons to see if one is visibly depressed all the time.

If not, cover up the IR receiving lens on the tuner to isolate whether the trouble is inside the tuner or something transmitting to it.

I'm betting it's the latter.

I've seen everything from a flourescent light fixture to a remote with weak batteries transmit just the right signal to mess with a TV.

And don't rule out a prankster with a remote watch or keychain playing with your sanity!
